25 April 2010
The first Red Oaks Community Fun Run was held at Red Oaks Primary School yesterday (Saturday 24th April) during the school's Get Going Get Growing event.
Dave Pengelly came in first for the Adult 5km run, closely followed by favourite Keith 'Elvis' White who came in a close second after leading the field for much of the race. Parent Nikki Kearsley won the Ladies Race and came in third overall.
The Under 12's mini run was well participated with over 60 children running the school playing field course.
Medals and certificates were presented by head teacher Terri Menham and Friends Of Red Oaks chairwoman Sue Allen.
The Fun Run coincided with the school's popular Get Going Get Growing event where parents and visitors were able to buy seeds and vegetable plants sown by the school's pupils. There was also a Scarecrow competition, minature garden competition and hog roast.
All proceeds went to the school and Friends Of Red Oaks.
