PRIORY VALE CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS OF SUCCESS

19 November 2006
Wednesday 22nd November will see the fifth anniversary of the opening of Thamesdown Drive in North Swindon; an event that allowed construction to begin in the new community of Priory Vale. In just five years, Priory Vale has become one of the town's most sought-after locations, playing host to over 2,700 residents living in properties from Bloor Homes, Crest Nicholson, Persimmon Homes, Bryant Homes and George Wimpey.

As Mike Christmas from the North Swindon Development Company (NSDC) explained, the location's success has exceeded all expectations. "Priory Vale's properties are selling faster than anticipated, attracting over 900 homebuyers every year," he said.

Lorraine Palmer, Sales Director from Bloor Homes and a Priory Vale resident, believes she knows why. "I was among the first to move here," she said. "In those days, it was hard to see how the area would develop. However, Priory Vale has grown into a thriving community with attractive properties, shops, and lovely country walks on its doorstep."

Evidence of Priory Vale's growing community is close to Lorraine's heart. "My daughter also lives in Priory Vale while my granddaughter attends one of the new schools," she smiled. "They are living examples of how the community is taking shape."

Since 2001, Priory Vale has seen the arrival of the nearby Orbital Shopping Park, a suite of new schools and a state-of-the-art Learning Campus. The next few years will also herald a new Village Centre with shops situated in a market-town-style setting.

Meanwhile, Mike Christmas confirmed work at Priory Vale is continuing apace: "Most of the infrastructure is in place and we are now concentrating on the finishing works. We are also focusing on delivering a wealth of public open spaces with cycle links between them."

For Lorraine, it is Priory Vale's welcoming atmosphere that makes the location so special. "Since moving here, I've never once felt threatened," she confirmed. "I can stroll down Priory Vale's walkways and find myself in beautiful countryside, yet every possible amenity is just a stone's throw away. Priory Vale offers the convenience of modern living coupled with a community feel from years gone by. I'll never move: I simply couldn't imagine a better place to live."
