Situated
in the Learning Campus, Isambard will feature
separate wings for such topics as information
technology, business studies and humanities,
alongside a gymnasium, library and dining
hall. It will also focus on artistic subjects,
with a music department and substantial
drama space. As the Learning Campus' landmark
building, the school's design includes attractive
aerial walkways, a 'street' affording views
of the School Square, and a contemporary
feel throughout.
With
the opening day of Priory Vale's first mainstream
secondary school fast approaching, Rachael
Mattey and her team are busy putting their
plans in place. "It's getting more
manic by the day," laughed Rachael.
"We've appointed lead teachers for
various subjects but there are still many
more to come." Already, Rachael is
impressed by the school building in the
Learning Campus. "It looks fantastic:
spacious, light, airy and colourful. On
opening day, it will feature so many great
facilities, such as science labs, learning
technologies, and even a full-size recording
studio and TV studio."
Rachael has ambitious plans for Isambard's
arriving pupils. "We expect high achievement,"
she confirmed. "If you have low expectations,
that's exactly what you get. But if you
have high expectations, you stand a better
chance of achieving them."
"I
want to thank Priory Vale's parents for
placing their faith in a school with, as
yet, no track record," Rachael concluded.
"We won't let them down."
